What are the basic safety rules?
- Never kite alone in offshore wind. The report marks offshore directions in amber for each spot.
- Learn with a certified school before riding on your own.
- Check the forecast, the tide and the gusts before you go, and look at the water when you arrive.
- Keep at least 50 m of clear space downwind of you, away from people and obstacles.
- Ride with a working quick release and a leash.
- In summer, respect the swimming zones.
- Moulay Bouzerktoun is for experts only.
What are the hazards at each spot?
Essaouira bay
- A north wind pushes you south along the beach, towards Diabat and the Oued Ksob river mouth.
- The Mogador islands (Îles Purpuraires) are a protected nature reserve: no landing.
- Keep clear of the port at the north end of the bay.
- In summer, respect swimming zones and keep at least 50 m of clear space downwind.
Sidi Kaouki
- Open Atlantic swell: check the live wave height and period before going.
- NNE and NE winds, which are fine in Essaouira bay, are offshore here.
- About 25 km from town: do not ride alone, and plan your transport back.
Moulay Bouzerktoun
- Waves, rocks and currents.
- Experts only: a "kiteable" verdict here does not mean it suits your level.
- Do not ride alone.
What should I wear?
The water is cool all year: about 17 °C offshore in February–March and about 19–20 °C in September–October (Open-Meteo marine model, 2022–2024 monthly means). We recommend a full wetsuit: 4/3 mm in winter and spring, 3/2 mm in summer.
How do I read the live report safely?
The verdict is computed from a weather model, not measured on the beach. A "yes" means the model passes our rule; it does not mean conditions suit your level. The tide curve is modelled and not for navigation.
